Sunday 4th jan 2009 our niece Charly was given a name and a blessing. She was blessed by her father Sean with the assistance of her Uncles, Grandfathers and Gt Grandfather. She is such an adorable lil girl. Still trying to figure out who she looks like. Photos were taken outside the chapel with the Haydens family and extended family. It was once again a hot day at least 34 degrees. So if we seem red faced and flushed, thats why.

Lastly, one of those rare moments where you will find Hayden on top of his Big Bro (Brendon aka Ese). Ese has a slightly larger weight advantage over Hayden, so if there is a chance that he can pummel his head into the ground, without getting his scrawney butt beaten then this was one of those moments. You'd never know that Steve is holding the lower half down and hayden the top half...All in the name of fun...the clowns

ROLAND AND REBECCA GODFREY

Arriving home from NZ to Perth at about 1am in the morning was hard going, but we were lucky to get enough rest and attend two weddings that very day. Unfortunately, my brain was mush and I forgot to get any photos of Jo and Kyelee's Wedding but as for Bec and Rolands. I did!!!. They were sealed in the Perth Temple on the 3rd Jan 2008 and had their reception at the Mulberry on Swan in the Swan Valley. Food was devine and location on the river was idyllic. I felt sorry for the bridal parties of both weddings as it was 32 degrees and hot. And it doesn't get any cooler wearing a 3 pce suit. So good going guys. We had lots of fun and both the weddings were fantastic and all looked great. We had lots of fun and thanks to the Thomsons for looking after Haydee for 6 hours. It was great.

HAEREWA FAMILY REUNION...

For my family, this was the main reason for our trip home. The Haerewa Reunion was a big deal. I grew up not knowing my fathers side of the family, and the last time I had met my immediate cousins for the first time was back in 1996. However, this one was different. This meeting was the very first gathering of the generations stemming from Dick and Matekino Haerewa...My great Grandparents. They had 10 Children and this reunion also included their families and extended families. So you could probably imagine the family history I was gathering. I was a mad woman on fire. I had my laptop with me and my fingers were going non stop entering names etc into PAF. It was great catching up with all the cousins and getting to know my Dads Family...esp his Aunty and Uncle who are the last of their generation. Got some great stories and some very interesting findings concerning my fathers father and gt grandfather. Alas another story. I loved every minute of it and was so glad that I could be apart of this experience.

ARMITAGE AND ABEN WHANAU
On Boxing Day, we travelled through to Gisborne (Gizzy) to spend some time with Haydens Family. It was soooo much fun and Nana and Grandad were so funny. Being 80+ didn't stop them from joining in all the activites and that English sense of humour didn't stray too far from the table. Every morning we were entertained with some blonde joke from Readers Digest or a tale from back in the war or in Grandads childhood. Couldn't believe how sharp his memory is and just how quickly he can run off random dates for several events in his life. As for Nana, well she is and always will be the card shark in the family. If she cannot find a deck, she will make a deck outta anything. loved hanging with her. She reminded me of my Nan. As for the Abens...CRAZY!. We just love them. Haydee stuck to Lauren and Cole like a bad smell and we hung out with Megan n Steph. Fun Fun fun is all I can say.

TEN PIN BOWLING WAS A BIG HIT WITH THE KIDS AND THEY SO ENJOYED THE ATTENTION. I THINK MOST OF THEM ACTUALLY BEAT THE ADULTS. OTHERWISE A GOOD LAUGH!!!!

OUR KIWI CHRISTMAS in NZ 2008

WoW!!! We spent Christmas with our family in Nz. its been about 10 years since my family have been together at once. So this was quite a monumental moment. So much happened for us and we were able to catch up with each other and spend some quality time reflecting on the past etc. As for Haydee...well we hardly saw her. She was off galavanting around with her cousins and playing with them the whole time. She had such a ball. Three of her cousins she had met for the very first time...but by the way they interacted, you'd have thought they were all buds. So this was a very eventful holiday....mostly family orientated. So meet the Haerewa's.

ROAD TO BETHLEHEM

Here in Perth the Seventh Day Adventists put on this Christmas nativity pageant called the 'Road to Bethlehem', where you are taken on a journey thru Bethlehem looking for the Christ Child. It is a free event and one that is always well done. They do a great job of the costumes and the acting is great. We went with the kevan family, but it is an event that we enjoy taking our youth to and bringing other families to every year. There are camel rides, free health checks, food stalls and craft stalls for the kids, A bouncy castle and live band going for entertainment. A Great night for all. and lots of fun
